Brushing right after drinking Soda??

You might think it wise to brush your teeth immediately after drinking a Soda, but you should actually wait from 30 to 60 minutes. Soda’s extreme acidity may erode your tooth enamel, and brushing right after drinking could worsen the damage.

Why It's Better To Wait Soda?

Whether it is diet or regular, has a very negative effect on tooth enamel by increasing the acidity in the mouth for a period of at least an hour. At this period of time the enamel begins to slowly lose its natural mineral and weaken and brushing might do more harm than good at this time. Phosphoric acid in soda causes it to be so acidic, and it’s the cause of tooth enamel erosion.

What can you do?

Rinse with water, chew gum and wait for 30 to 60 minutes before brushing According to many researches done by dentists, waiting at least 30 minutes after drinking soda before brushing your teeth helps to protect tooth enamel. It allows the enamel to recover from erosion. Chewing sugarless gum could be helpful. Some studies show that chewing gum can have an indirect positive effect on the teeth. Gum can stimulate production of saliva and increase salivary flow. Saliva is a natural buffering agent, which washes the teeth and neutralizes some of the acid producedby bacteria.
